Super73 E-Bikes

Super73 build moped style ebikes and very little else. Four models here run $1,995 to $3,045, all Class 2 at 20 mph, all on a bench seat and fat tyres, all with a throttle. They are the bikes that made this shape popular and most of what you see now is following them.

What you are buying is the silhouette and the build quality behind it. What you are not buying is carrying capacity, which is where the Rad Power alternative wins and where most comparisons quietly skip past.

Which Super73 does what

The MZFT at $1,995 is the way in. 520Wh, 16-inch wheels, and the smallest bike here. The M1D at $2,495 is the same idea with more of it: same 520Wh pack, bigger 4.5in front and 5in rear tyres.

Both of those are a dual battery electric bike if you want them to be, and that matters more than any other spec here. Single-battery range is 15 to 20 miles on the MZFT and 20 on the M1D, which is a short evening. Fit the second pack and you get 35 to 40 miles. Budget for it rather than treating it as an upgrade.

The S2 Laguna at $2,645 is the classic shape and the light one, 67 lb against 85 and 88 on the two above. If you ever need to lift or push the bike, that 20 lb is the difference. The Z Adventure Series at $3,045 is the only geared model, with 8 speeds and Tektro brakes, which makes it the one that pedals like a bicycle rather than a moped with pedals attached.

The payload question, asked properly

Super73 publish a rider capacity, not a payload. The S2 Laguna and Z Adventure take 325 lb, the MZFT and M1D 250 lb. There is no rated rear deck on any of them.

Compare that with a [[Rad Power RadRunner|/products/rad-power-radrunner/]], which carries 320 lb total including the rider on a deck built to take a passenger seat. If you want to put a person or a crate on the back, that is the bike, and we would rather say so than sell you the more expensive one.

Buy a Super73 because you want a Super73. It is a good reason and it is the honest one.

What Super73 do not publish

No torque figure for any model. Not one. Every other brand we carry gives a number in Nm and Super73 do not, so we have left the field blank rather than estimate it. The 500W nominal rating is all they commit to.

Batteries are UL 2271 certified across the range, which is the certification worth checking at this price. Super73 also state the S2 Laguna is for riders 16 and over.

Straight answers

Are Super73 bikes street legal without a licence?
Yes. Every model here is Class 2, capped at 20 mph on throttle and assist, which makes it a bicycle in all 50 states. No licence, registration or insurance, whatever the styling suggests.
Which Super73 has the longest range?
The M1D with a second battery, at 40 miles. Single-battery, the S2 Laguna and Z Adventure go furthest at 25 to 35 miles on 480Wh. The MZFT is the shortest at 15 to 20 miles until you add the second pack.
Can you carry a passenger on a Super73?
Not within a rated payload, because Super73 do not publish one. They give a rider capacity of 250 to 325 lb depending on model. For carrying a passenger properly, a RadRunner has a deck rated for it and a Super73 does not.
How much torque does a Super73 have?
Super73 do not publish torque for any model, which is unusual. They rate the motor at 500W nominal and leave it there. We have left the Nm field empty rather than guess at it.
Which Super73 is the lightest?
The S2 Laguna at 67 lb, or 30.4 kg. The M1D is heaviest at 88 lb, and the MZFT is 85 lb.
