The Rad Power RadRunner is a utility ebike shaped like a small moped. $1,499 ride-away buys a 750 W rear hub, 65 Nm of torque, a 624 Wh battery and a rear deck designed from the start to carry a passenger, a crate or a child seat.
It is not trying to be a fast bike or a light one. It is a load-carrier that happens to be cheap, and that is a much rarer thing.
The rear deck is the whole design
Most bikes treat carrying capacity as an accessory problem. The RadRunner starts from the deck and builds the bike around it. The frame is short, the wheelbase is compact, and the back end is a flat platform rated as part of a 320 lb total payload.
That means a passenger seat, a cargo crate or a child seat bolts on rather than being improvised. If the reason you are buying an ebike is to move something other than yourself, this is the cheapest honest way to do it.
20 mph, and why that is fine here
